Do rugs have the same qualities as carpet?

Carpet and rugs are made in the same way, but rugs are often thicker than a standard carpet. All designs can be machine-made and are very affordable, so they're ideal for covering a large area on a low budget.

There are two types of handmade rug, but what?s the difference?

Hand-knotting is the traditional craft dating from 450BC, and usually of very high quality and price. Hand-tufting is a modern technique of a lesser quality, but better value.

How can I stop a rug slipping?

Our rug grips (a type of foam with adhesive properties) are suitable for use with all types of floors and rugs.

Will a long-pile shaggy rug shed?

Both synthetic and wool hand-tufted rugs will have some shedding or pilling, but it will stop when the excess pile has gone. Machine-made rugs shed less than handmade ones, and synthetic yarns will shed less than wool, but shag styles do tend to shed more than others.

How do I look after my rug?

Vacuum your rug frequently to prevent dirt and dust building up. If it's a cut-pile rug, use the beater bar on your vacuum to get right down to embedded dirt. Don't use the beater bar on loop pile, as it can damage the pile.
